The presents have been opened, the eggnog has been drank, holiday cheer has been spread…and the post-Christmas dieting has begun.

But more importantly, we at Corporate Growth, Capital Style get to look back at an incredible year of corporate growth and powerful mergers and acquisitions!

They made 2019 a year to remember and 2020 a year that we can’t wait for!

Even this month, during the holiday season, we saw an incredible amount of activity among our membership and sponsor companies as they closed out the year, in addition to our own Washington Technology Showcase.

Here were some of our favorite stories from within the ACG community this month, all of which are must-reads as we get ready to welcome a brand-new decade.

Washington Technology Showcase Connects National Capital Region Tech Innovators

At this year’s Washington Technology Showcase, companies with innovative applications of AI or products that help make the most of the 5G and IoT revolutions had the opportunity to connect with potential partners and investors from around the National Capital region.  As exhibiting companies like boodleAI, DeepSig, and Leverege continue executing on their growth strategies, the connections they make at ACG events like these may prove incredibly valuable down the road!

Baird Exclusive Financial Adviser to Leidos in its Dynetics Acquisition

In Leidos’s $1.65 billion acquisition of Dynetics, Baird served as Leidos’s exclusive financial adviser.

When the transaction is completed in the first quarter of 2020, Dynetics, a technology services contractor in the national security sector, will function as a wholly owned subsidiary, giving Leidos access to a workforce of over 1,000 engineers and 1,000 technical specialists and Dynetics’s existing relationships with government clients.

ACG National Capital Board Member John Song, Managing Director at Baird, recently told GovConWire that the transaction is “indicative of how Leidos is investing on innovation and expanding their presence in the high growth markets of hypersonics, directed energy, advanced sensors and space solutions.”

Perspecta Wins $810.5 Million Contract with the State Department

Perspecta, an ACG National Capital sponsor, got an early Christmas this year when the General Service Administration’s FEDSIM acquisition hub approved the potential seven-year task order for enterprise IT services on December 18th

The largest civilian award in its history, this transaction is the latest in a long string of awards that continue to reaffirm the prowess of the Perspecta team, which won last year’s Deal Team of the Year Award for forming the $4 billion government services juggernaut.

Grant Thornton Consolidates its National Capital Workforce

ACG National Capital sponsor Grant Thornton completed consolidation of its over 1,200 National Capital region employees into its new office at 1000 Wilson Boulevard in Rosslyn.  According to WTOP, it will also create 348 new jobs as part of the move over the next five years.

In creating its largest office in the United States, which is also its first zero-waste facility, here in the National Capital region, this move is a testament to the amount of business opportunities that are available here and a reminder for how much potential the new year—and the new decade—has in store for all businesses in our area.
