It’s late October. Jeans and sweaters are starting to replace shorts and t-shirts, and Halloween is right around the corner. However, while the temperatures may be dropping, the region’s deal activity is heating up. And there’s nothing scary about some of the exciting announcements that we have here in the Dealbook.

Since our last edition of the National Capital Dealbook, ACG members and sponsor companies have been involved in numerous deals. ACG National Capital is known as the association for middle-market growth, and the deal activity over the past two weeks shows why, with companies and individuals associated with the chapter serving as the buyer, seller, or strategic advisor to many of the region’s deals.

Even more exciting, while many of the deals in this edition of the Dealbook involve companies in the area’s enormous government contracting industry, there were also many deals in the region’s growing technology and healthcare markets.

Here are some of the most interesting and impactful deals from the past few weeks:

Clearsight Advisors Provides Guidance on Two Transactions in the Digital Transformation Space

Within a week, Clearsight Advisors advised clients in two separate, successful transactions: ASGN’s acquisition of Intersys Consulting and West Monroe Partners’ acquisition of GoKart Labs. Both acquisitions bring new solutions and talent to the acquiring organizations that will bolster their solution portfolios and better enable them to meet the needs of their customers.

ASGN is a publicly-traded, professional staffing company based in California that is widely recognized for helping companies find the qualified professionals with the unique combination of skills, experience and expertise to meet their needs. The acquisition of Intersys Consulting will expand the company’s portfolio of advanced IT offerings that enable them to deliver a combination of highly-skilled human capital and integrated solutions to fulfill the strategic and operational needs of their customers.

West Monroe is a business consultancy that leverages its team of technologists to meet the digital transformation challenges of its customers. The addition of GoKart Labs and their seasoned group of talented creatives and designers with experience launching digital businesses and products will help them yield even more dramatic results for their clients.

The fact that businesses in this industry come to Washington for advisors only reminds us what a technology powerhouse the National Capital region is.

WBB Continues to Grow

Advised by the Chertoff Group, WBB added to its portfolio by acquiring BRTRC, which has expertise in systems and vehicle integration, prototyping and commercialization, strategic communications and cybersecurity.

With this acquisition, WBB continues to grow that portfolio of human capital that CEO Robert Olsen took great pride in at September’s monthly chapter meeting.  

The acquisition also creates opportunities for WBB to expand its pipeline, which is already in the billions of dollars, even more.

Leidos Sells its Electronic Health Records Business to ettain group.

ettain group, a leading provider of talent solutions in healthcare IT and digital creative, received a majority investment from A&M Capital Advisors in connection with its acquisition of Leidos’s Electronic Health Records business.

Baird was a key advisor to Leidos during the transaction.

Consequently, the combined company will be doubly equipped to find solutions to its clients’ challenges, pairing an even deeper knowledge of healthcare IT with the right professionals to get it done.
