Image6-300x111Earlier this year, Mediware Information Systems, Inc. announced that it had acquired Harmony Information Systems, Inc., a long-term care software solutions company. Harmony’s software solutions are used by over 25,000 users at both state and local agencies to manage complex health and human services processes across the continuum of care.

Harmony’s President and CEO Joe Sander had the following to say about the acquisition: “The state and local agencies that currently use Harmony products will feel right at home with Mediware. They should also feel more confident and excited about our ability to support and meet their needs. We feel like Mediware’s experience, financial strength and commitment to its customers is a perfect fit for our customers.”

On Friday, November 14, Harmony’s Joe Sander, along with former Harmony Board Member Donna Morea, will be featured speakers at the ACG National Capital Monthly Meeting.

As a CEO, Mr. Sander is known for positioning companies for growth by developing and implementing strategies that transform organizations and fuel global market expansion. His background includes senior positions leading all aspects of operations for commercial enterprise technology companies, with specific expertise in software as a service (SaaS) delivery models.

Donna Morea is a highly accomplished chief operations executive and board director who is nationally recognized in the IT software and services and private equity communities. She currently serves as an independent director on several public and private corporate boards, as well as in the not-for profit sector.

Mr. Sander has a storied history of helping turn around troubled companies. According to Mr. Sander, “When I joined Harmony in 2008 it was in severe distress, out of cash, and reporting an EBITDA loss of more than $4.5M YE 2008.”

Mr. Sander will bring this experience and knowledge to the ACG National Capital membership at the upcoming monthly meeting, where he plans to discuss the steps he took to turn the company around and position it for acquisition. “I will be speaking to the work I did to affect a positive turnaround of Harmony, which includes working through the zone of insolvency, stabilization, profitability and strategy execution focused on growth.”

Donna Morea, who played a crucial role in Harmony’s success, will join Mr. Sander in addressing attendees. According to Mr. Sander, he “asked Donna Morea – who was on the Board of CGI at the time and a rock star in the health and human service market selling to state governments – to join our board and work with me as a consultant.  Donna was instrumental in assisting me and the management team in the operationalization and realization of driving new enterprise deals to the company. The result was year-on-year books growth north of 300%, and ultimately, positioning the company for a positive exit to a strategic acquirer.”

When asked what Ms. Morea will be speaking about at the event, Mr. Sander said, “Donna will be sharing her views from a board perspective on the growth stage of the business.Given that all businesses have their highs and lows, I would expect our presentation of perseverance, planning, execution and success will be of interest to the ACG community.”
