William D. Green is the Executive Chairman of Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.
Under William’s guidance, the company has grown to over $20 billion in revenue with clients in more than 120 countries. William’s ability to engage, build and maintain client relations, along with a strong work ethic geared toward growth, resulted in the company’s doubling of revenues and workforce while expanding their global presence.
William joined Accenture in 1977 when it was part of Anderson Consulting and played a key role in the split of Anderson Worldwide that led to Accenture’s incorporation.
Following the split, William was tapped to run the manufacturing industry group and serve as managing director for Accenture’s business within the United States. He was later named chief executive of the resources and high tech operating groups before becoming chief operating officer for client services in which he was in charge of managing the company’s operating groups.
In September 2004, William began serving as Accenture’s chief executive officer, and took on the role as Chairman in 2006. During the period of 2004-2010 when he served both roles, the company experienced double digit growth in revenue and workforce. This led to the company’s increasing presence in overseas markets.
William retired from his post as CEO at the beginning of 2011, but still continues to play a key role with Accenture as the Executive Chairman. He is actively involved in planning the company’s long-term business strategy, which also includes representing the company with clients, business and government leaders, and key external groups globally. William is also a frequent speaker at business, technology, and academic forums around the world.
When he is not busy representing Accenture, William participates on the United Nation’s Secretary–General’s High-Level Group on Sustainable Energy and the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum. He is also involved with many business groups, such as the Business Coalition for Student Achievement, Change of Equation and the Business Higher Education Forum.
